The turbine control box (G83) is necessary to provide a voltage limiting circuit which prevents over voltage occuring at the invertor input. This could occur during the 3 minute(currently) mandatory grid monitoring period following a grid failure and the reconnection. It contains a DC isolator switch which is also mandatory. This is of a NO VOLTS type which trips out when the grid fails. The system cannot be reset until grid power is resored. This switch will also operate a relay which brakes the turbine when grid power is lost.
